FRA has three main classes of software products: decision support systems (DSSs), information systems and integrated forest management system "suites" composed of combinations of these decision support and information systems. These systems help forest managers to develop sustainable resource management plans and efficient and profitable forest operations. More recently, we have developed OperMAX, a forest operation optimizer, and PORTeL, a spatial component giving GIS functionality to our own forest management software. PORTeL can also be incorporated as a licensed component into other land and operations management applications where spatial visualization, analysis and modeling are of value.
